summer birthdays

Ryan is 30!!

Earlier in July I surprised him with a little get-away 15 minutes from our house to the 'White Haven Motor Lodge'. It's a quirky, retro looking motel that we've always joked about staying at someday (it's at 80th and Metcalf). I love the sign and many people know it as the motel that has the little blue pool in front.
To keep the surprises coming, we walked to Mi Ranchito and met our friends Chris and Emily for dinner. It was nice to hang out as couples without the kids. I dropped off balloons and flowers at both the restaurant and our room. Ryan was quite surprised and had no clue!

Happy Birthday baby Amelia!____________________
Amelia Grace Shaw came into the world on Sunday, July 12th at 2:34am. These are my friends Carrie and Evan from college (Evan was a year ahead of me in Arch. and happens to be from Tongie). They live in Des Moines now and I happened to be in Des Moines also for a bridal shower last weekend. I talked to Carrie on Saturday evening because I was planning to visit the next morning (she was due in 2 more weeks). She was having contractions 20 min. apart while on the phone with me and sure enough she had that baby girl 9 hours later! Lucky I was in town!

Audrey turned 3!___________________
We love celebrating with good friends! Awesome food as always...
little sis, Mira
Hank and Lincoln
baby girls, Linley and Emma

Sam turns 2!_____________________

Sam and all of the kids here are Ryan's cousins children.
I LOVE this 'pillowcase' dress Megan has on! It was homemade, as well as the capes. Great sewing ideas for me! (if I ever get around to it...)

Avery turns 2!_________________________
cute lil' girl....
Hank and Avery are 1 week apart and for the longest time as babies they felt exactly the same in body size and weight. Over the last 6 months though Hank has really beefed up and Avery has perhaps become more 'feminine' in scale. I know they'll love to play w/each other for years and years though!
obsessed with sports!
Happy 30th Manda and Melissa!____________
They had a 60's themed party and it was groovy baby! I didn't have much time to think about an outfit since this party was the night before Hank's b-day party. My mom brought this up for us though (i think all the men in my family have worn it to some party or another. my mom made it). i loved their cute, hip dresses and hair dos! i guess i was the hippy of the party.

We've been going to Birthday parties for 7 weeks straight! I missed one because of working Saturdays though (Happy 1st Birthday to Katelyn!). My mom's Birthday was also last week!
